"Oh, the young master Alucard--always caught in the middle of the eternal battle as an active-but-fleeting participant, an emotionally twisted offspring of, really, both sides. It's no big shock that one with such a sordid past (considering, especially, his childhood) would go on to become a manipulator of sorts; he'll always do what's right, sure--but his methodology is not without its fair share of deceit. Soma Cruz learned well this lesson. But what happens when the subject at hand shares with Alucard a more sacred bond? Does agenda outweigh paternity? Just who is Jonathan Belmond, exactly? Angel Santiago answers these questions in screenplay form, in the new tale Castlevania: The Movie!" |

weird but I guess all parents are like that. Mine were kind of strange also.”
Jonathan
“What made them strange was that they were always telling me stories about my grandfather, great grandfather and so on. How I was supposed to follow their footsteps? By the time I was 17 I left home, I was tired of listening to them telling me the same thing over and over. But now…”
“But
now what?”
Jonathan (flashbacks)
“But
now…I’m not so sure. They taught me how to hunt in the woods and told me the
old townsfolk legends and tales. I never went to school, they taught me everything
and the very first books I read were the Bible and my great grandfather’s
diary. It was filled with even more strange accounts, events that he supposedly
experienced in his lifetime and when I turned 15 my father gave me a strange
gift. He gave me his diary and a bag with an old leather whip inside. He said
‘Son, the time might have come and you will need this.’ Strangely, I was attracted
to the weapon and began to train with it. But I got tired of it all and that’s
when I decided to leave. On that last day my father approached me and said
‘I cannot stop you, just remember everything…’ and he gave me a hug. I could
hear my mother crying inside the house. I never told them I would leave, they
just knew and said goodbye.”
Anna
“And,
do you remember?”

“Yes and they were right… a storm is coming. And I must be prepared to face it.

Thoughts
I
still can’t believe it took so long to convince myself to write something
about Castlevania, considering for how long I have been a fan. I had the idea
for this story for about two years and had some of the characters worked out
from the beginning and some quotes I wanted the story to have. I really wanted
it to be like the script of a movie, so I somewhat organized it that way.
As some hardcore fans will notice, I used the original Japanese name of the
