Acceptable Ending
To get this ending, you must simply defeat Maxim in the heart of Castle A.
Juste finally finds his friend in the heart of the transient castle. Maxim has managed to fight off Dracula's total possession and keep Lydie safe until Juste's arrival. Unfortunately, he can no longer endure the possession and fears that he may be imminently reborn as Dracula. With that in mind, he begs that Juste finish him off so that these events can be avoided. They have the following conversation:
Juste is unable to rescue his friend, but Maxim's selfless actions have insured that Dracula will not rise again for at least another half century. With sadness in his heart, he takes Lydie into his arms and escapes the dreaded castle to the safety of a mountain cliff.
The castle is destroyed, ushered back to its unearthly realm. Juste tries to explain the absence of Maxim, but Lydie understands the predicament all too well from reading his exhausted tone. She shares in Juste's sadness from the loss of a great friend; they decide to go home and put the pieces back together.
