Unused Stage Select

Castlevania: Dracula X, the Danny Devito of the Dracula X twins, lacks many of its big brother's better features, including the option to select on which stage you wish to play. Or does it? Perhaps hinting at a stage of development when ambitions were high, this screenshot illustrates the game's "Stage Select" mode, hidden in the depths of the gray SNES cartridge and never intended to be seen by man. Use divine magic (or in this case a Game Genie or Pro Action Replay) to unlock this mode and select to play any of 9 stages--each with multiple areas. The codes are as follows:

Game Genie:
  8085C876
Pro Action Replay:
  516A-14DF
    8085C9B9     8B6A-140F

Unused Messages

Games made for closed systems like the SNES required that developers program in warning messages targeted specifically at pirates and those who modded their consoles in unauthorized ways. In Dracula X's case, however, we've never heard reports of such warnings. There's a reason for this: They were never included in the final product. Still, they linger deep within the gray abyss, waiting for some curious fellow to fish them out using the cheat device Pro Action Replay. Want to pirate Castlevania: Dracula X or blow up Dracula with the Super Scope? Well, don't do it. Instead, view these screens using PAR codes 80819600 and 8082C600, respectively.
