The
Lady of the Crypt is called as such due to the appearance of its appendage,
which resembles a woman. The whole of this large creature, which for centuries
fed on the damned and learned to mimic them, is actually an enormous insect
that lives in the castle's depths. The actual physical portion of the battle
focuses on the woman: She'll rush forward while flailing her arms, trying
to strike Trevor; hit or miss, she'll quickly move underground and eventually
pop up elsewhere. After she's been roughed up a bit, she'll instead begin
blindly dashing toward her target. She'll a bit later try to pop out from
the ground as close as possible, attempting to grab hold of Trevor and drag
him down below for an instant death. When the woman's health has been drained,
the actual Lady of the Crypt will emerge and initiate the next phase of the
battle, which is really a prolonged quicktime-event sequence; if you pay attention
to the screen and hit the correct buttons when prompted, you'll eventually
mount the creature's head, deprive it of its appendage, and score an epic
victory.
