Menace

Menace is a humongous amalgamation of many powerful demons. The battle is a two-part affair: During the first, Menace is hunched over to where Soma is trapped within its skeletal barriers. At this point, Soma must focus his attack on a face implanted into Menace's knee while avoiding giant stabbing blades and the bent-over head's poisonous breath. When the knee-face is damaged enough, Menace will stand upright and begin marching back and forth over the area, attacking with stomps and punches depending upon Soma's position. There are two targets that must now be destroyed: What's left of the knee-face and another implanted within Menace's protective jaws. Though, to make the situation dire, Menace will continuously crowd the battlefield with annoying, resilient flying snap-jaws. (Check the Dawn of Sorrow-specific boss list for larger images.) The Harmony of Despair version is encountered only in its second form, the strategy for defeating it a bit different: You must lure it to the screen's right side and bludgeon its large cranium by activating a gigantic swinging hammer placed above, knocking the Menace on its back; while it lay prone, you can pile on damage by attacking its vulnerable knee joint.
