The
Reaver is actually the remains of the Night Watchman transformed into a creature
with a voracious appetite and an insatiable appetite. The putrid beast, covered
in a dense mop of hair and formed from the hundreds of corpses it has devoured,
must continue feeding in order to strengthen itself. The Reaver wrecks Alucard's
transport and forces a fierce encounter. It initially gnaws at the heroes
and spits out a stream of damaging bones, stopping only to whip its multiple
tails. Most distressing is its continued spitting out of the smaller scavens,
who are still tough to defeat and take up a lot of space; they do well to
mask the Reaver's ceaseless attacks. In the battle's second phase, the stationary
Reaver can only damaged by Alucard's jostling of a metallic dispenser overhead,
which will dump onto it scolding acid; the Reaver will in response take Alucard
in its maw, the completion of a quicktime event his only escape. It adds to
its arsenal a long-distance open-jaw charge attack, and it will also retreat
onto a wooden beam, on which it will run back and forth while spitting out
sets of nine explosive seeds.
