Character's History

Trevor Belmont's price for failure was certain death. Though, his tale would not yet be ending. After Dracula gazed into the Mirror of Fate and realized that he had just killed his own son, he tried to salvage the situation by slitting open his own wrist and infusing the slain Trevor with his cursed blood. Perhaps preparing for a period of incubation, he entombed Trevor's remains within the castle's left tower, in a specially adorned chamber whose cover had engraved across its surface the name "Alucard." Thirty years later, the newly christened Alucard awakened from his slumber, beckoned forth by the Lost Soul, whose silent gestures revealed to him the nature of his return; most horribly, he had finally discovered his true fate: He was only meant to become that which he swore to destroy. Now showing only mere traces of his former self, Alucard's only desire was to take revenge upon the one who had doomed him to this cursed existence. He stared intently upon the tower that stood in the distance, where he long ago fought his father.

As he balanced his way across the towers' link, he was ambushed by the Daemon Lord, whose might proved too much for the still-depleted Alucard. The tortuous creature dropped Alucard down onto the conclaved surface below, which luckily for him had moments before become a moat due to fallout from Simon Belmont's trek up the nearby vertical prison. With available no means to quickly ascend toward the castle's heights, he was forced to take the long path through the estate's many haunted halls, caverns, and corridors. It was through his trials and brushes with near-death that he discovered his new powers, like the penchant to transform into mist or a werewolf plus the ability to fly short distances and rebound off walls. He realized his efforts were concurrent to those of Simon's when from out of sight he saved the red-haired wonder from a seemingly endless onslaught of macabre puppets; in light of the Lost Soul's confirmation of his inquiry, he learned, too, that Simon was indeed the son he once knew. He similarly came to his son's aid in the Toy Maker's funfair, his dealings with Simon this time more personal. While he would not reveal the true nature of their relationship, instead shielding his true identity, Alucard tested Simon's mettle, asking him to wonder about how he could succeed in his mission where "his father" couldn't. Regardless, he assured Simon that he would not stand alone in the final battle against Dracula.

Alucard hurried off toward his destination. After solving the castle's many riddles, he used the power of two blood orbs to force open the doors that previously denied him entry into the castle keep. He made a grand entrance into the throne room, interrupting a heated discussion between Simon and Dracula, who was pleased to see his son and requested that Alucard join him in his war against the Brotherhood. Alucard refused, insisting that he had not the capacity for hatred. Joining forces with Simon, Alucard battled his father and eventually wrestled him into a prone position whereby Simon was able to drive through his heart the Combat Cross and put an end to his reign. Though, Alucard was suspicious of their victory, since Dracula's body had merely vanished. "This is not how a vampire is supposed to die," he said, cryptically. Before Simon could question his assessment, Alucard shifted focus to the amulet he had long ago entrusted to his son; now knowing its true purpose, he convinced the reluctant Simon to hand the amulet over to its true owner--the Lost Soul, who was the manifestation of the Mirror of Fate that had been controlling their destinies. Though Simon still wondered about his identity, Alucard would offer no clues as to his true personage; he simply caressed Simon's face and inched away. He returned to the left tower, the site of his tomb, and recovered a tattered Combat Cross. As he kneel down, pondering the day's events, the castle began to crumble; he quickly transformed into a bat and crashed his way out through a window, escaping the haunt as it collapse unto itself.

Appearances

Alucard follows the blueprint as drawn up by Simon Belmont. Since his chapter ("Chapter III") proceeds Simon's, he inherits all of the advanced abilities and level gains (including the associated learning of combo attacks) as previously procured. His starting weapon is the Dark Pain, which is his version of the Combat Cross; it'll later be upgraded to the Improved Dark Pain, which will allow for increased castle accessibility. In addition to his transformation powers, he'll eventually expand his inventory to include the Shadow Claws and Demonic wings, which allow him to wall-jump and temporarily fly, respectively. In terms of secondary weapons, he'll come to possess two sub-weapons--one of which is necessary to the plot.

Sub-Weapons
Striking Weapon
Bat Projectile: Upon his order, a swarm of bats will attack a nearby target, stunning it for a few moments and giving Alucard the upper hand
Dark Pain: This is Alucard's starting weapon. Created by the Toy Maker, this dark version of the Combat Cross will be sufficient early on
Stopwatch: The Toy Maker's stopwatch, made with vampire plasma and powered by blood, temporarily slows down time in the immediate vicinity
Improved Dark Pain: This upgraded version of the Dark Pain allows Alucard to ride upon the magnetic rails strewn throughout the castle
