Mega Man X

Mega Man X stuck to the traditional 8 robot bosses followed by a castle. Though, in this series, you're not forced to go through the castle in one shot; rather, you can go to progressive levels whenever you want. Also, interaction with one robot boss could actually change the appearance of another boss' stage. The right weapon not only does damage to a boss, but it can kill his whole game-plan.

Chill Penguin

Chill is the resident ice robot of the game. He creates tiny ice statues in the form of small penguins, in hope that X touches them, turning into ice himself. If nothing makes contact with the statues, he'll either break them as he dashes towards X or he'll continue to spit out ice pellets. His other ability allows him to harness his power and make it rain, pushing everything in one direction.

Spark Mandrill

Mandrill has a low center of gravity, making it difficult to get around him when he jumps. He has 2 attacks of note: (1) He'll shoot out deadly sparks that travel in opposite directions around the room, and (2) He'll use his powerful dash punch. There's almost no way around his dash punch, and it enables him to knock a clinging X off the walls.

Armored Armadillo

Armadillo is probably the quickest of these 8 bosses. He'll pull his extremities into his shell and proceed to bounce around the room, his pattern unpredictable. When on the ground, he'll lower his head and fire projectiles from the cannon implemented over his head.

  • Weak against: Electric Spark

Launch Octopus

Launch will almost always be under water. The name of the game with this guy is chaos. While jumping around uncontrollably, he'll be littering the screen with all kinds of artillery—most prominently his homing torpedoes. The real challenge is dodging all the debris on-screen while trying to get a shot in.

Boomer Kuwanger

Boomer is probably the 2nd-fastest boss. Emulating the attack style of Cut Man, Boomer will use the boomerang cutter atop his head to inflict serious damage. Also, he'll use the cutter like a bull uses its horn, ramming X and hurling him towards the ceiling. If that's not enough, he has the ability to transport, though he stays grounded while doing so.

Sting Chameleon

To give him an advantage, I suppose, the ceilings of his chamber are always lined with spikes. Since he's always hiding out in the trees above, it's always tempting to want to climb the walls to get a clear shot, which brings the spikes into play. Sting's main attack is throw 3-directional spikes downward at X. As a backdrop, he'll use his chameleon powers to blend in with the trees above, making himself invulnerable for a short time; during that time, he can surprise X by popping up unexpectedly.

Storm Eagle

Another master of the skies, Storm Eagle has 3 kinds of attacks: (1) He'll use his storm tornado to try to push X into the pits on either side of his chamber, (2) He'll continuously use his air dash, and (3) He'll flap his wings really hard, creating a wind current that pushes X away.

Flame Mammoth

Since he's the largest of the robot bosses, he'll use that huge frame to his advantage. Making things more difficult: The ground he chooses to fight on is actually a treadmill. He'll send out little flames that move along the ground then dive at X while he tries to avoid the flames. When they cool off, X can become stuck to the magma. If X is clinging to the a wall when Mammoth lands, the impact will knock him right off.

Track Spider

Its attack pattern is truly puzzling. From atop the screen, it'll make little green bars appear across the existing polls that line the room. Those green bars represent the tracks available to him as he moves towards the ground. The only time it's vulnerable is when it's on the ground. However, as it gets more damaged, it becomes faster, making it hard to get a shot in before it begins ascending back to the top. It has 1 attack: It'll throw out 4 little robot spiders to keep X busy.

  • Weak against: Shotgun Ice

Rangda Bangda

This enemy has a definite pattern. The eyes on either side of the room will open up and begin attacking by either shooting out 3-directional projectiles or by moving directly towards X. After doing this twice, the walls will close in, leaving X little space to battle its nose, which will begin bouncing around the now-little area, trying to knock him into the spikes below. After 2 tries, the walls will move back. All components share the same energy meter.

  • Weak against: Chameleon Sting

Hover Tank

What appears to be 1 solid object will become 2, as the top and bottom separate to attack. It has 3 attacks in all: (1) They'll separate, the bottom part moving back and forth while the top part bounces around the room, (2) They'll separate and move towards X, forcing him to jump between it, whereas the top will come crashing down, trying to crush him, and (3) They'll come together and generate energy between the parts then shoot out a giant electrical sphere. Only the top part is vulnerable.

  • Weak against: Boomerang Cutter

Velguader

Sigma's dog isn't really a threat; its job is to weaken X up before he gets to Sigma. All it really does is bounce off the walls, using its dash attack. However, if X tries to fight it by clinging to walls and picking his spots, it'll start to spew out a looping flame attack, knocking him off the wall.

  • Weak against: Shotgun Ice and Storm Tornado

Sigma Body #1

Looking more like something out of Star Wars, Sigma will launch an all-out assault with his beam sword. If X is on the ground, it'll use its dashing slice attack; if X is clinging onto the walls, he'll begin bouncing back and forth, higher and higher, along the walls, trying to knock him off. When he's had enough, he'll possess the body below.

  • Weak against: Electric Spark

Sigma Body #2

This picture doesn't justify just how huge this Sigma incarnation is. The two claws on either side will begin circling, stopping to either generate and release a powerful electric attack downward or to dash in the direction of X. In between those attacks, the head will use 2 attacks of its own: It'll either shoot medim-sized electrical bolts downward, from left to right, vice versa, or (2) It'll use a flame-thrower attack in the same pattern. Its head is the weak spot, and the claws provide X the steps to get up high enough.
