A Manticore is
a man-eating creature with a lion's head, a man's face, the wings of a bat,
and a quilled tail--or, in this case, a more dangerous scorpion tail. Despite
having wings, the Manticore will keep this battle firmly on the ground. Its
only two attacks are reactionary to where you are in the room: If you're in-close,
the Manticore will protect itself by extending its tail overhead and stabbing
it forward; not surprisingly, this will inflict a poison status upon the hero
if it connects. If you're standing away from the beast, it will begin spitting
large fireballs, up to three at a time, to keep you guessing and moving away
as it continues coming forward.
