Character's History

Henry and his family, the Oldreys, were unfortunate victims of Dracula's curse and its influence over the surrounding countryside. When the forces of evil began to wish for the return of their dark lord, the Oldrey manion was transformed into a haven of evil by invading forces. In the wake of this infestation, Henry's father, Master Oldrey, was turned into a vampire; he quickly embraced the newfound darkness, as a much-desired paradise, and looked to drag into the underworld his family so that they could know the same "pleasure." In preparation for the event, he turned the Villa's garden into a memorial gravesite, where his family's Earthly death would be clearly engraved. Furthermore, he invited monsters and evil spirits alike to inhabit the Villa as a sort-of halfway house, a hotel of nightmares. The young Henry, terrified, escaped the mansion and hid himself within the Villa's hedgemaze until Cornell eventually showed up to escort him to safety at the behest of the boy's doomed mother, Mary Oldrey.

Years later, after training diligently as he grew, the family-less Henry returned donning the persona of suited church knight. Now he would turn the tables on Dracula by making it his personal mission to rescue other children who had known the same pain--those who had been kidnapped and orphaned thanks to the Count's dark forces and their sinister intentions. As Reinhardt Schneider and Carrie Fernandez were facing their destinies in hunting Dracula, Henry urgently searched about the landscape for six missing children knowing well that the castle could potentially collapse at any time should the other heroes locate and vanquish its ruler. Henry did succeed in his mission to gather up the children and escape before the castle's eventual destruction, and the relieved group disappeared into the calm sunset with smiles on their faces.

Appearances

Henry Oldrey is the second unique hero from Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, unlocked after clearing the game normally as Cornell. It's eight years after his rescue at Cornell's hands, so the grown-up Henry's mission is concurrent to that of Reinhardt and Carrie's. While they're doing their thing, Henry runs about the castle areas saving several children who were kidnapped by Dracula's army. His long-range weapon is a six-shot pistol, a strong, fast weapon though with a stall when it must be reloaded; the bullets' power can be increased twice by collecting morning star symbols. For in-close combat, Henry relies on his skill with a short sword. Not surprisingly, he, too, can use four of the usually Belmont-exclusive sub-weapons.

Sub-Weapons
Striking Weapons
Dagger: A quick-moving but weak knife that can thrown directly at an enemy; when fully powered, the daggers become enflamed when thrown   Pistol: A rifle that can fire consecutive shots but must me reloaded; its shells can twice be powered up for more explosiveness
Holy Water: When a vial hits the ground, a huge blue flame rises up and engulfs nearby enemies; when fully powered, its attack power and range increase Short Sword: At close range, Henry uses this blade to quickly swipe at enemies--effectively so against smaller foes
Axe: A strong throwing-axe arced directly at a targeted enemy; when fully powered, lightning will strike down at the axe's point of impact
Cross: The boomerang-like cross hits all enemies in targeting range before returning to the user; when fully powered, its range and homing power increase
