Character's History
Sypha was a skilled magician who had suffered a bad life. Because she had no family, no friends and no loved ones, Sypha thought it best to harness her powers and make the personal sacrifice to fight evil. Mainly, she'd become a vampire killer. During her journeys, she was captured by a Cyclops and magically embedded within stone. She remained in such a state for an unspecified amount of time until Trevor eventually show up to destroy the Cyclops as part of his quest; this broke the seal and allowed Sypha a release from her stone state. To repay the debt, she requested that Trevor allow her to follow along, to aid him with her powerful magic. In a veil of mystery, Sypha managed to hide her identity--mostly masquerading as a "he"--from Trevor until after their eventual slaying of the Count. Since Sypha was frail in nature, her magical staff was hardly a good weapon for use in combat. Instead, she used this powerful device to cover for her weaknesses by utilizing devastating magical spells, which she used to a great degree in the destruction of Dracula's most trusted guardians. After the victory, she settled in with Trevor as her companion; she had finally found happiness, and she would more importantly help in continuing the evolution of the Belmont chromosomes. The Belnades family, too, would grow alongside its new friends and would like the Belmonts become ally to the Church. While not many of its members actually fought directly against Dracula, it was in future Belmont warriors where traces of her genes could be seen. (Hers definitely spawned the future "Spell Fusion" system, which the family would later harness as a more simple item-crashing ability.) To see Sypha in action, click here. |
Appearances
Sypha Belnades is another of the ally characters in Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. As a magic-user, Syhpa commands the Warakiya staff, which she uses to both attack enemies and execute her magic spells. As an attacking weapon, the staff is rather quick but very weak; too, it cannot be powered up. You'll want to take Sypha along for one reason: Her three powerful spells, which act as sub-weapons. Add in the stopwatch, a more traditional weapon, to complete the arsenal.
