Mega Man X Weapons The weapons in the X games are generally the same as in the original series, save for a cosmetic difference. But X does have other abilities that the original Mega Man didn't have. The below are separated into 3 sections: Energy items, Ride Armor and Adapters.
-Energy Items- Large/Small Energy Pellets- These restore some of X's regular energy. The small pellets increase X's meter by 3 bars, while the large one recovers an approximate of 1/3 the whole meter. Small/Large Weapon Energy- These will restore energy to the weapon that X has currently selected (or the weapon with the lowest total while X has no weapon selected). The amount of energy they restore is the same as the regular energy pellets. 1-Up- This will give X another life to play with. Heart Tank- When X starts the game, his meter is very small. Finding these, 8 in all for each game, will increase his meter by 2 bars. Energy Tank- These work differently than their regular Mega Man counterparts. Once collected, they are never lost. They can be refilled again and again, providing you do the work to fill them. When X collects an energy pellet when his meter is full, the energy transfers over into these tanks. Weapon Tank- Similar to energy tanks, these are filled when X collects weapon energy while the energy levels of all of his weapons are full. When used, all of X's weapon energy will be restored. Extra Bodies- When X starts a stage, this item lets him start with 4 extra lives instead of 2. Injured Reploid: These can show up anywhere, pleading for X or Zero's help. Saving them from enemy captivation restores some some energy and also rewards you with an extra life. Exit Velocity- This allows X to escape from a stage after having defeated the boss of that stage.
-Robot Ride Armor- The Robot Ride Armor appears in all of the the Mega Man X games; depending on the game, the number of vehicles available changes. All of them are represented in the third game by little chips that activate each armor on a special pad. Below are the chips and the armor you can receive by collecting them. - Hawk Armor
This is the basic armor. It can be used to dash and throw powerful punches. - Drill Armor
It, too, can be used to throw punches, the drills adding more power; however, it can be charged up to throw a punch with even more power. It also has the ability to hover. - Chimera Armor
This armor turns X into a war machine. Out of its arms, missiles and other powerful explosives can be charged and unleashed. - Marine Armor
While this armor was solely made for underwater use, it can be used on land, though it can only take slow, lumbering hops. In the water, it can be used to jump extra high, shoot heat-seeking missiles, and avoid strong currents.
-Adapters-
All of the adapters that X can use are found in these capsules. Dr. Light hid these all over the world for X to find. In each game, X can receive 4 armor upgrades—arm, leg, head and body. The powers offered differ in each game. Below are the upgrades available in each part. (X3 had 4 special capsules, which allowed Mega Man an upgrade on an upgrade, but he could only choose to have one of them; they'll be marked in purple. X5 had eight capsules, each containing pieces for 2 different kinds of armor.) Mega Man X:
